2020 season review: a mixed bag

Sept 30th, 2020

The 2020 season can be summed as a mixed bag. In the league the 1st X1 struggled throughout, always languishing towards the bottom of the league but ultimately surviving. A Twenty20 cup final defeat to Kippax was disappointing but that run showed what the team are capable of.

Matthew Hatherly scored the vast bulk of the runs whilst the bowling was more evenly spread out.

The Junior and Women's seasons were wiped out due to Covid. We look forward to 2021!

Sicklinghall Ladies take the field

Sept 15th, 2019

Our women’s team played in the only Women’s tournament organised in our area by the YCB this year, held at Harrogate CC. There were 10 teams in total and barring ourselves and one other team, all had played in similar tournaments before. A couple of teams had players who had played for the County teams.

Sicklinghall Ladies led by Emma did well, having had just 2 training sessions, they had a couple of really close games which they could have won had the lax umpiring not favoured the opposition. The team comprising of the two Emmas, Sally, Jules, Angie ,Gill, Zoe, Liz and our U11 star Hannah really enjoyed the day and hopefully this will encourage a few more ladies to join up.

If you fancy knowing more about what happened on match day, or you want a laugh, you're in the right place! Andy Wood writes the match reports....
